2006 Intel iMac wouldn't power on

My 2006 iMac was dead since I had long trip back. I unplugged the machine before I left. Now nothing happened when the machine plugged and press the button (no sound just black screen). It worked fine before I left.

I tried to take apart the machine and all look fine inside. I replaced the logic board battery and still same. But I found once I put on the plug, it has "da da da" sound continually from behind the logic board. It means any part broken?

Thanks for help to save my old Mac.

Just throwing my two cents in here. Almost every time I see one of these machines in a store its because of a failed/failing power supply. After you've tried what Mayer has suggested, I agree with Vincent that it is indeed a power supply issue.

Hi Michael !

I would 1st suggest you to try unplugging the machine, holding the power button for 10s then plugging it back it.

I had the same problem with the same mac model. I ended up replacing the power supply unit (iFixit sells that part) and it now works well. Couldn't tell if your computer has the same problem but I'm glad that it fixed mine.

Hope this helps !
