The LG G4 was released in the US in early June 2015, as always focusing on high-end specifications and a refined fashion sense that makes it stand out in the premium smartphone market. Each version of the phone will have a different model number based on if it is sold by a carrier or unlocked (US or International). Some LG G4's are known to have bootloop problems.

LG G4 screen turning itself on after timeout

This issue started about 3 or 4 days ago for the record. I have been trying to find a solution online but I have yet to come across a real solution (other than sending it in to LG for 9 days (completely unacceptable)). It happens whenever I turn the screen off, either through the lock button or the double tap. The screen will power off correctly and then turn itself back on within the next second. If i leave the screen to timeout at 15 sec like I have it set to, the phone will dim and then the screen will close, only for the screen to immediately turn itself right back on. This is killing my battery life and making my phone constantly overheat. If someone has found a solution please share it with me, I am reaching my wits end

hi, It's beginning to sound like a battery problem. Just wondering if you charge the battery to 100%, remove the charger and see if it happens then or if it only happens when battery is at a lower %.

You may already be doing these things and it has nothing to do with your problem but every little bit helps. This link explains ways of extending the battery life. Hopefully it may be of interest,

My phone just started doing this two days ago. i turn if off and then 2 mins later my screen turns on. I clean my "power button" with an alcohol wipe. Pushing it as I am cleaning it. It is not the battery as Its news. The more I am cleaning it, the less my phone turns on. Not saying this could be the problem but it helped me. My phone no longer turns on.

I had the same issue for quite a while ... I believe I found that it's the "Knock On" feature of the phone causing the problem. If the LG G4 is tapped twice while sleeping, it wakes. On the LG G3 that setting could be turned on/off, but on the LG G4, that setting is not made available.

I think that the accelerometer in the phone, or something in that Knock On feature that monitors the accelerometer, has gotten way too sensitive in one of the phone updates. Now that I've turned off that feature, my phone stays dark and quite, as it should after I put it to sleep.

There's an app in Play Store called QuickShortcutMaker that can be used to make a shortcut to the hidden Knock On setting. After installing, while looking at "Activities", type "Knock On" in search. Settings should show up in the list underneath. Select the down-arrow next to Settings, and a couple sub-settings will appear. They should be "Knock On" type settings and you can choose either one, they both do the same thing. Select one of them, then change the name from Settings to "Knock On" for the shortcut you're going to create, and you can choose a different Icon for it. At the bottom, create the short cut, then find it on your display and select it. Or just select the "Try" in the QuickShortcutMaker to open the Knock On setting and disable it.

Here's a link to where I found this information: https://www.phonearena.com/news/How-to-d...

LG G4, may you sleep long until needed.

Hope this helps!

For anyone having this issue in the future, check that it’s not the screen (Or perhaps more spcifically, the digitizer.)

I had a similar issue after using this phone for many years, the LG G4 has a double tap to wake feature that you can’t turn off, at least not through normal means. There is an app you can use to launch a ‘shortcut’ that will let you disable it. After doing that, my phone no longer woke itself up. Never fixed the actual issue, as I upgraded phones not long after, but I’d guess it was the digitizer that causes this.
