How to replace the cracked Battery/memory compartment cover?

I have a crack in the cover of the battery/memory stick compartment. It makes the camera think the batteries or low or dead or the memory stick isn't inserted correctly. I have replaced the batteries and it still tells me low or no battery. It will also just suddenly shut off. Took it to my reunion and kept trying to put pressure on it so it would stay in contact with batteries & stick. Was a real pain. Sometimes that worked, sometimes NOT. Please help thank you.

Yow, I really hate it when the battery door cracks. It is the weakest link in EVERY camera I own.

Luckily there is a simple solution for this particular model.

Get a tripod with a quick release top. Some are less than $25 USD at big box stores.

Firmly attach the quick release top onto the camera bottom.

You can put a piece of cereal box cardboard between the battery door and the quick release plate to add extra pressure.

This usually holds the battery door closed and the camera works.

And you can quickly snap the camera into the tripod as an added bonus.
