all I want to do is scan not print

I have had this printer in storage for about a year. All I want to do is scan slides and pics. The screen tells me I have to change the ink before I can do anything. Is there any way I can just scan pics without having to have up to date ink in it?

Hello,

Did you try Removing the ink cartridge while its unplugged?

plug it in and let it think that there's no ink cartridge installed,

then insert the cartridge again? (like as if it were new)
