Get an error message "r17" on my view finder

Get an error message in my view finder "r17" . The camera will not calculate the light and speed correctly and I get over exposed picture. In outdoor mode it works perfect. In "m" mode i should define the speed and aperture by myself and get wrong sign on the scale of the camera. .need help.

Revital, r17 is showing up not an error code, it is telling you how many images you can take before the buffer fills up in a burst of shots according to Nikon forums.

Check the attached link,instruction and guide, not your exact Model # but lots of info.on problem your experiencing, Good luck.

Revital Paran that is not an error message. since it starts with the letter"r" it refers to the internal buffer capacity. The "r" stands for "Remaining" and the number is so that you know how many shots you can have in the camera's memory buffer. In case you wanted to shoot, continuously, for example, you'd have room for 17 shots. In 14-bit mode you will see "r15" and "r17" in 12-bit mode if the buffer is empty.

Check the manual exposure control. Manual under and over-exposure can be changed this way in most of the modes.
