I need some advice on what to do in my situation?

I bought my ibook G3 from a company that claimed they sold them refurbished. It has Mac 10.4.11 installed on it. Ever since I got it, it has been freezing. Constantly. I can barely do anything with it at all. I called the company and they tried to blame me stating I had downloaded something that was crashing it. I went through and tried to delete everything I had ever put on it. Which was not much at all. I also installed a very large memory chip into it. Someone suggested that downgrading to 10.4 might work. What is everyones take on this? I am just not happy because I spent 180 dollars on it. So now I don't know what to do. My ipod is used on this as well, and it is not an easy task. I thought about buying another one on ebay, and just selling this for parts, but Im guessing I would lose more money if I go that route. I also have a clamshell that works perfectly well, but the version is not high enough for anything. Should I buy the disk and try to upgrade the one and downgrade the other? At this point is seems that would be the best option? How much are these disks typically? When I was looking over ebay, I couldn't figure out which was which and they were like 100 dollars? The company I bought this from said it would be 10 dollars on ebay? Advice please???

And this is so frustrating because unfortunately my itunes library is on here too. Which has been painstaking because I have to force quit like 5 times to add like ten songs. And I have to replace the hard drive on my ipod, so it will have to not freeze long enough to import my whole library back on the device..

Please tell us who this reseller is. Granted you may have installed the wrong RAM. Try starting up with the Shift key down (Safe Mode). If it locks then it';s nothing you downloaded. Put the old RAM back in and boot in Safe Mode and if it locks, send it back. Or invite them to participate in this question. I would be interested to hear why they think it has a problem. Let's see what they say when confronted by professionals.

When I check the RAM, it is registering the chip. It runs faster, but freezes just as much. I bought this about eight months ago, and they said I couldn't return it. The seller was DV Warehouse. I will definately try what you said. It basically freezes every two mintues or so, and theonly way I can get it back is restarting it. I have tried control option delete, and it messes it up more. Either that or it just gives me an error message, and says it stopped responding and restarts itself.

Sad part is they sold this as a "refurbished."

Ok, I just tried booting into safe mode, and it still froze..

The last G3 iBook was

introduced 2003.04.22

You got it EIGHT months ago. You might file a paternity suit. I really don't think any court would grant you Mac support on this. WHY didn't you send it back the first week? Grow up, no one in the world would give more than a 60 day warranty on a 7 1/2 year old machine. Judgement for the defendant.

What do you mean about buying a new disk? You mean you want to buy a new hard drive for the iBook G3?

In what way does freeze? Does it just beachball a lot, or does it actually freeze, meaning you have to reboot?

No I mean they told me to do a full install of the OS. So get the full install disks. They also said it would be ten dollars on ebay..I have yet to see that.

It usually beach calls, and no matter what I do, I cannot get it to stop. Then when I hit control option delete, the whole screen just goes haywire, and I have to shut it down.

And I always have to reboot. Nothing else seems to work. But I noticed when I search on ebay, all of the ibooks don't have anything higher than 10.4 installed on it. That is why I am wondering if the OS is too large for the ibook to handle?
