bottom speaker volume is gradually getting weaker

Second generation of iPhone. Model A1241 / 8 or 16 GB capacity / black or white plastic back. Repair is more straightforward than the first iPhone. requires screwdrivers, prying, and suction tools.

bottom speaker volume is gradually getting weaker

The volume level on my iphone 3g bottom speaker has been gradually fading over the last few months. I checked for dirt plugging the grill, but its clean. i have all the settings maxed out but its still about half the level of friends iphones. Its about a year old and I didn't buy the extended protection. Ideas?

i got the same problem on a 3G. the volume is very lower compared to others. tried replacing the speaker assembly/dock connector, reset all settings, restored from itunes no luck..
