Will replacing the screen fix nonresponsiveness and white lines?

Basically what the title says. This is my second phone with this problem, but it's now well outside of Apple warranty. I'm wondering if installing the replacement screen/digitizer assembly will resolve this?

Can it be solved by just disassembling and cleaning the contacts inside the phone?

All I need is for the phone to be functional enough to last until the next one comes out in the fall at some point...

If the phone was dropped its possible that a connector may have pop loose. Cleaning will not do anything unless you believe the phone got water damaged. But thinking the screen is bad and will need to be replaced. If you looking to buy a screen don't use the cheap eBay junk, make sure your getting a quality screen and follow the Ifixit guides. Apple will replace the screen for around $139 and other repair shop will charge about the same amount.

If the phone sustained any significant drops, then the lcd may have been affected at some point. This would absolutely cause the white lines on the display. Another reason why a screen produces white lines would be due to any amount of water damage recently or previously on the phone. While the phone may not have exhibited issues immediately after the water damage, it may have affected the display over time and is causing it to short out on you.

A couple of things to take into consideration before you get a replacement screen:

If the phone was not straight out of the box from your carrier or Apple, then it is most likely a refurbished product.

If the device sustained any liquid damage, then fixing the screen won't necessarily fix the problem.

I would take it to a repair shop and have them take a look at the device before proceeding with a screen repair just to make sure. My repair store takes in phones under diagnostics and applies the diagnostics to any repair costs if we do see a problem with the phone that is fixable. Make sure you go to a store that offers this option.

If you choose to do an at home repair, keep in mind that if the phone is water damaged, when you open it up, the phone could experience further issues after the repair.

Go back in and try to unloosing all screws, including the 3 on each side of the LCD, then don't over tighten them, this can cause white lines . The screws are only supposed to be turned till they stop, use lock tight. Don't over tighten them on the LCD metal cover either. Then connect the battery after you connect the LCD, and do a hard reset 1st. Then do a restore using a USB cable and a PC. The calibration software only works in iTunes using a USB cable.

PS: first,

Update iTunes before you start.

Make sure your battery is 100% charged before you start
