Both Cameras and Flash not working after a bit of liquid spilled?

I've spilled some water over the top of my iPhone 6 Plus and now both the cameras and flashlight are not working. The camera app gives a black screen for both cameras. When I opened the phone, I saw a little bit of corrosion between the home button connector and the rear camera connector. Any idea how I could fix this? Will it help to brush the area with 100% pure alcohol? Or do I need a new rear (or front) camera?

P.s: I scraped most of the corrosion away but still no succes.

First things first, use the teardown to complete a water damage repair on your phone. Test it out again.

If you need to replace the cameras, here is the guide for the front facing camera assembly and then therear camera as well.

Here are the parts you will need:

iPhone 6 Plus Front Camera and Sensor Cable

iPhone 6 Plus Rear Camera

Hey @kaniggit49 I already brushed the contacts and some of the corrosion away with 94% alcohol. But it didn't had any effect.

door

Then at that point, I recommend replacing the cameras.

door

I ordered the parts, will keep you posted on the progress.

door

@kaniggit49 replacing the cameras hadn't any effect sadly enough :( ... Any suggestions?

door

Sounds like it could be a board issue then. With water damage, some things cannot be repaired.

Hey Ocho,

I would recommend to replace them, it's better for the phone. Also does your earpiece speaker still works? You can buy al the parts in the iFixit store.

Hey @stijntech thank you for your response. The earpiece works fine. Do you think that replacing the camera's would fix the problem? It's weird that the flashlight also doesn't work, it isn't connected with the two camera's

door

Yeah that's weird, I'm going to take a look at it and contact you ASAP.

door

So the water must have come through the earpiece speaker unit? So it came in the speaker unit and went to the left. But the rear facing camera is a bit protected.

door

Oh I understand, liquid came in the speaker, went to the left and than it came down to the rear facing camera. The flashing is just logical, it's near the camera.

door

I would highly recommend to replace both camera's.
