Keyboard 0n MacBook A1342 stopped working

My keyboard has stopped working. I need to find a replacement keyboard. Also I get random dialog boxes that pop up.

Any help is deeply appreciated.

Thanks

Apple says you have to replace the whole upper case, but that's not true.

This is the fast way to do the repair: MacBook Unibody (A1342) Upper Case

If you have lots of time and patience you can just replace the keyboard.

You do have get everything out so you can get to the keyboard, here's how you do that, but leave the trackpad in: MacBook Unibody Model A1342 Upper Case Replacement

Here's the guide for then replacing the actual keyboard (this is on a 2010) but should work fine for you.

Then you need the keyboard, @kyle, iFixit does not currently carry these, but hopefully that will be rectified soon.

Meanwhile here's one: http://www.ebay.com/itm/99-NEW-US-Keyboa...

Thanks Mayer, Is this a normal thing that happens? I just want to be sure that it is the keyboard. I was already looking on ebay. I was getting ready to buy it when I saw that you responded. Thanks again

No it's not normal except in cases of a spill. See step #14 of this guide. Put a piece of tape on the cable so that you can pull it deeper into the slot. Release the lock, pull to try to seat it deeper then lock it. Give the keyboard a try.

How do I remove the black plastic bracket that is over the keyboard. There aren't any screws holding it in?

door

See step #27 of this guide, it may have some glue on it so just try leaning it back and forth: MacBook Pro 13" Unibody Mid 2010 Keyboard Replacement
