won't charge or turn on

First i am disabled and hove no money i tried all the basic things plugged into a wall outlet ,used a shorter cord i even took the barrel off and used my iphone 5s block,and it appeared to be charging but then the bouncing light on the power button stopped and now it won't come on at all ,hp is no help they don't sell this tablet any more w hat can i do? i don't have 50.00 dollars to buy a new cord and adapter HELP!!!!!!
