Adhesive to connect front glass to the iPod

Ok, so I removed the front panel glass and have the display disconnected but I was wondering what adhesive should I use to re-stick the new glass to the iPod. I have just reheated the glue in the past on older iPods but for the 4th Gen, the screen shattered alot near the home button so I had to remove all the glue to get the glass shards off. So I was wondering where I can order adhesive to re-stick the new screen and digitizer.

We sell the adhesive that is specific to the Touch 4th Gen.

iPod touch (4th Gen) Adhesive Strips

It also comes with the display assembly if you are wanting to replace the LCD and glass.

iPod touch (4th Gen) Screen

Make sure to clean off all the old adhesive before putting on the new adhesive as any residue left behind will cause the LCD to not sit properly.

I used the iPhone 3G/3Gs adhesive kit. I did have to modify them a little to make them fit properly. If you can find a seller of the 3M 300LSE in a small sheet, that's the best bet and you can cut your own. I ended up using the 3G lower piece around the home button area, but custom cut the side strips and the areas around the ear piece/cameras.

Another thing to note is that you MUST cut extremely thin strips to run down the long sides of the frame (this isn't usually necessary on the 3G series iphones) or the glass will not seat tightly into the midframe.

The iPod touch repair is not like the iPhone 3G/3Gs series in any way. The disassembly guide here is pretty good, but you must take things slow or you will cause damage to other components.

When you buy the replacement part make sure you get the LCD/Digitizer as a single piece. It costs over twice as much to buy it this way, but you'll need to replace both even though your LCD may be working. They are fused together like the iPhone 4.

Jim, check this discussion for what parts to move over from the broken screen:

What parts to move from the broken screen?

and what adhesive to use. I use iPhone 3/3G adhesive. Needs some cutting anyway. And the sides need a thin strip of adhesive also.

I would by an original screen/LCD like this one:

I am trying to fix an IPod 4. My daughter dropped it a few times. the glass has fallen out and is now being held in by tape. I connected the cable from the lcd screen to the unit and it works fine. I just want to know what kind of adhesive will make it sit right in chassis. I read above but he is talking about an I Phone. What is the cheapest easiest way to reconnect the screen to the chassis?

William, check my post above. You can use an iPhone 3g/3GS adhesive but you also need a small strip adhesive on both sides. If you changed the glass you will ned to move over some parts like I explained in my post.

I used carpet tape. super cheap and super sticky. Keep some around the house for multiple uses.

Very difficult.Best to line it up as best as you can and put adhesive under the LCD onto the silver plate. Then set the digitizer directly on top.Make sure lcd screen is clean.Very very difficult though. If it is off it will be off on where it looks like you touch.Best to get one premised honestly.Lcd screen gets hot.So use adhesive from eBay.Two strips on LCD to the plate. Two for digitizer.Cut out additional strips for the black rubber on the outside.By the way,I got a full screen and I don't think there is glue..If you use it make sure it is good in heat :)Good luck...

everyone.people have trouble getting the screen flush with everything.i found the tricky reason it will not go in.the silver plastic backing that you hold when you play it gets bent.that is why it tilts up in areas and others it does not.set it on a flat table with the open end facing down.then set heavy books on it for like 5 minutes and boom.hope this helped :)

"silver plastic backing that you hold when you play it gets bent" what does this mean? Can you clarify. Are you saying the silver metal housing/shell/case is buckled bent or are you referring to something actually on the LCD screen?

Thanks

Bezel. The case. Yes,the plastic casing that everything is in. It can sometimes be bent therefore the lcd screen won't sit flush.Look at it closely. Sometimes the lcd screen can be damaged though.
