Ear peice and proximity sensor not working

I replaced the headphone jack on my iPhone because I was not getting a good connection to various headphones. In putting it back together I must have not connected connector 3 correctly. I have tried a number of times to reconnect it. Does anyone have a photo of what it should look like or any suggestions as to what I may be doing wrong? If not what is my next step?

Could be your connector? It is hard to notice, but sometimes they break and lift off the board slightly.

Here's a pic (the model in the pic is a 3GS, but the connector is the same in this instance):

It has a gold tip that should be completely in the connector. Make sure the locking bar is down once the gold tip is in there.

Have you tried restoring it, or can you not get that far?

If that doesn't fix the problem, it seems that the front panel/digitizer is broken.

If THAT doesn't fix the problem, all signs point to logic board.

I Must have knicked the #3 cable while putting it back together. I too purchased a new cable, and although it is not the easiest thing to replace I did do it and now everything works wonderfully.

Might not be the logic board. That ribbon cable is fickle. I ahd this problem and just bought the cable (proximity sensor cable) off of amazon and replaced it. There's a youtube video on how to do it (since it's not immediately obvious), and it's an easy repair.

Also, remember to always shut off your phone before you open it. Seems that the proximity sensor or the cable may be especially sensitive to that.
