iMac Intel Core 2 Duo 3.06 GHz 24" OS-X

French: Ventilateur bruyant dès l'allumage, sans avoir utilisé d'application. Ceci est apparu il y a 2 jours en rallumant l'iMac que j'avais éteint.

Chauffe importante.

Aucun souci d'utilisation, mais je suis obligée de fermer l'iMac après 1 h d'utilisation, par crainte de l'endommager.

Ai essayé les conseils : débrancher, redémarrer en appuyant 5 s sur la touche ON ; toujours pareil.

Mon iMac ayant 8 ans, je ne peux pas envisager une réparation coûteuse.

Merci de vos conseils.

English: Noisy fan & system overheating

Noisy fan from the Startup, without using any applications. This appeared after two days when I had my iMac turned off.

Now encountering significant overheating, I have to close the iMac after 1 hour of use, for fear of damage.

Tried to reset SMC: Unplugged, restarted holding the ON button for 5 sec. always the same.

My iMac is now 8 years old, I can't consider a costly repair.

Thank you for your advice.

Non le DD n'a pas été changé.

Cependant, suite à panne en 2014, l'assistance Apple m'a fait totalement réinitialiser le DD, en me fournissant un CD avec OSX un peu plus récent que celui d'origine. J'ai tout réinstallé grâce à Time Machine sur DD externe.

Pas de problème depuis cette réinitialisation - sauf que le ventilo s'est mis à souffler bruyamment et l'iMac à chauffer beaucoup. J'évite de l'utiliser longtemps (1h maxi) et ensuite je l'éteins complètement.

Je vais devoir l'éteindre car message de TimeMachine m'annonçant l'échec de la sauvegarde automatique ; je n'ai jamais eu ce message avant.

No, the HD has not been changed.

However, following failure in 2014, Apple Support had me completely reset the HD, providing me with a CD with OS-X (it was a bit newer than the original one). I reinstalled everything with Time Machine from an external HD.

No problem since this reset - except that the fan began to breathe heavily and the iMac much heat. I avoid using long (1 hour max) and then I turn it off completely.

I'm going to turn off the system because TimeMachine message announcing the failure of the automatic backup; I've never had this message before.

J'ai eu le même problème sur un imac 24 de 2008, c'était la carte vidéo qui était en cause, je l'ai passée au four et ça l'a réparée, ensuite j'ai installé TG Pro pour éviter la surchauffe de la carte vidéo et le mac tient après plusieurs mois.

Hi Frances, the goal with TG pro is to launch the fans before the mac becomes too hot, so the noise will be reduced.

Concerning the heat, my imac goes up to 80° without any problem, and if it goes up to 90° more or less it will shut down to prevent damages.

Hi Andynice, thanks for suggesting to download the TGPro software.

I will look into that option, though it may increase the noise produced by the ventilator.
