Water damage, won't turn on Charging light goes from green to orange

I put my Macbook in a backback with a partially unscrewed water bottle and it got some (probably large) amount of water damage.

When I discovered this I panicked and tried to turn the Mac on. The screen turned on for a split second and then went black. Pushing the power button does nothing.

I left it alone for a number of weeks and it still won't turn on. Now when I plug in the charger, the charging light starts off green, and then after a few seconds turns and stays orange (it still won't turn on).

Does this behavior seem to suggest that the problem is with the MagSafe board or something else easy to replace (As opposed to the much more expensive logic board)?

Hello Althalous,

Water damage is a tricky beast. Seems like a silly question but what kind of water? Many types of water contain dissolved minerals and electrolytes that will begin to corrode components on the board almost immediately. The board will need to be removed and properly cleaned to remove the corrosion. The battery may also need to be replaced as they short when exposed to water. I would start with removing the board and find a local shop with a good ultrasonic cleaner. Replace and test. Next stop would be the battery and pray for the best.

I hope this helps

Holger
