Verticlal White Stripes on MacBook 2009 LCD

I dropped my macbook yesterday. Now my screen only displays all black with white vertical stripes ever 3" or so. Is this permanent damage or do I Just need to try to re-seat a loose connection? The computer is 100% functional when hooked to an external monitor...

I'd imagine replacing the screen assembly is not worth the cost of the mac.

It could be the LVDS cable or the LCD itself. Let's try something:

Open the Macbook into an Obtuse position (wider than 90 degrees open.) Do it a few times; Do any of the white lines change formation or position? If they DO, the LVDS Cable is more likely the problem.

If this technique does NOT produce any change in the distortions, then the LCD itself is more likely to blame.

Best Solutions:

EZ Mode - Buy an LCD Assembly! Here's a link to a 13 inch 2009 LCD Assembly. See our handy guide on how to install said LCD Assembly, it's much easier than the other options. It's about $100 total!

It may be a loose connector if you have recently opened it up or had it repaired. If not then the likely hood is that it may need a new LCD.
