laptop freezing while on the internet

Hi, I have an issue where my laptop freezes while using the internet. Occasionally it will tell me "not responding" but by that time I know it isn't responding because everything is frozen.

Regardless of weather I'm using internet explorer or firefox it still happens. It also crashed recently while having pages open in internet explorer but also actively using firefox. - (I'm still on Windows 7 and I don't want to update if that makes any difference.)

Could be a large number of things. Usually it's a bloated system being spread to thin.

I recommend downloading a program called CCleaner, when you open the program go to Tools > Startup and under the WIndows tab turn everything that you don't NEED off. It's safe to turn everything off in this list without effecting your system. Then reboot.

Try that and tell me if you problem persists.

Also run a virus scan.

You may not want to update to windows 10 but you may want to update your browser . in firefox you should be running version 46.0 and in internet explorer you should be running version 10. Usually when you have a freezeup it has to do with memory allocation. There could be background applications using to much memory . There may also be a problem with malware and spyware thats using memory to send info from your computer out. a malware and spyware sweep could do wonders. check your processes in the task manager to see whats using your memory. You may also want to do a sfc scan to check the system files
