Why won't my MacBook respond to the power button at all?

My macbook won't respond to anything when i try to power it on. The power adapter is working and show's green (and amber when the battery needed to charge so now the battery is fully charged. When i press the power button to turn it on, literally nothing happens. I hear no noise whatsoever and I tried to reset the PRAM, but no response.

Took off the top case and it's secure to the logic board and i never spilled anything on it or dropped it so i'm not sure why it just died and won't turn on.

Obviously with the computer being made in 2007, i no longer have a warrantee so i don't want to pay Apple to fix it if it's something I can do myself, having repaired apple products.

Any help would be great

The logic board does not seem to be getting the signal to turn on. I have to suspect the keyboard and keyboard cable, which you did. Time to go to a tech with a spare keyboard to find what has failed. Sorry to tell you this but it's the first thing I would do is connect a known good keyboard.

Here is a picture of the jump pads. If the MB starts after shortening them you'll need a new topcase, as there are no replaceble parts.

This is a common fault. You need o replace the top case/keyboard.

Hi there,

I encountered the same problem. After some research in your helpful forum (thanks) I managed to jumpstart (short circuit on the logic board) the macbook and reconnect the topcase/keyboard. Once started, the keyboard and trackpad are perfectly working, only the power button isn't.

Is there any way to test/repair/clean the power button rather than replacing the whole topcase and keyboard unit?

Thanks

Robert, if you wouldn't mind please cut and paste this into a new question as it is a unique problem and I would like to have it searchable later for other to see. Thanks also the last three figures of your serial number (found in the battery compartment)
