I am unable to turn my laptop on. It is hooked up to the power cord, which is also plugged into the wall socket, but the indicator light is not on, and I cannot get my computer to power on.

If the indicator light on the charger itself is not on, then you probably need to replace the charger cord. If the indicator light on the computer is not turned on, but the light on the charger is, then the battery is probably dead and will need to be replaced.
