Replacement battery won't charge

I replaced my iPhone 5 battery using the iFixit kit. Everything went well. Phone booted fine and worked great. I left it on, per the instructions in the box, to try to run it down below 10% and then planned to charge it up fully as the insert advised. However, after it ran down to nothing overnight when I plugged it into my charger the Apple logo came up for a few seconds, then it rebooted in an endless loop. I just left it doing that for a while. Tried different chargers and wires with no difference. Now, nothing happens. Won't charge, won't boot. What should I do? Did I get a defective battery?

Try holding the sleep/wake button at the same time as the home button until the apple symbol appears. If that doesn't work, you can get it out of the boot loop by holding the home and sleep/wake buttons until the screen turns black, then release the sleep/wake button still holding the home button for a few more seconds. It will now be powered off.
