Why won’t my speaker work when connected to certain devices?

My phone can connect, and will work well, but when I connect my tablet, the music won’t play. I don’t know if the speaker is only capable of connecting to one device, or if I’m not connecting the tablet correctly.

Hi,

The User Guide doesn't specify how many Bluetooth connections can be 'stored' in the speaker.

Did you try turning off the Bluetooth in your phone before you tried pairing with your tablet? If that doesn't work, then I'm guessing that it can only 'store' the one Bluetooth connection.

If you want to pair with another device, press the Play/Pause button for 3 seconds to disconnect the first device, you will get a tone then you can proceed with the pairing of the next device.

Here is a link to the User Guide which explains it better. See Pairing Your Device box

Hi,

To connect a new device to the speaker, you first need to disconnect the old device, otherwise the speaker won't recognize that a new device is being connected.

Hi,

If the speaker still won't connect to the tablet is might be because the speaker isn't within proper range of the router. Make sure that the speaker is within 150 feet of the router for the Bluetooth capabilities to function properly.

Bluetooth has nothing to do with 802.xx wireless routers. Bluetooth only works with other bluetooth devices. Many bluetooth issues are due to the bluetooth devices are already connected to one device and not disconnected from the first device when someone is trying to connect to the device with another device. Bluetooth is a client to client connection aka: 1 to 1. not 1 to many.

I just experienced the issue of not being able to connect my SB 513 speaker to my iPad Music.

Pairing worked perfect for many months until last night after I accidently pressed the middle button on the SB513 - which connected the SB513 to Ipad FaceTime disabling my Ipad Music & preventing Ipad Music from playing on SB513 speaker.

After lots of goggle research & giving up & trying again, I successfully reconnected / re-PAIRED my SB513 speaker to play my iPad Music.

HOW:

1) In Ipad SETTINGS, Bluetooth [on], Click on exclamation mark in SB513 which brings up the Question: Disconnect SB513 from this device. I clicked yes or whatever to remove SB513 from my Ipad.

2). I then followed the SB513 instructions for pairing to my Ipad & it CONNECTED.

Prior: I turned Ipad off & on several times with no success.

Turned off my cell phone that was pairing with Ipad Bluetooth. No success.

Turned off facetime on my Ipad. No success. END
