Cannot use my home button and touch id

Hello everybody,

I have a problem.

I replaced a iPhone 5s screen and everything goes well like always but after a week I cannot use my home button and touch ID

If I go to the settings and try to make the touch id enable it came out that unable to complete Touch Id setup, Please go back and try again.

What can i do ? Do I have to replace the home button ? If Yes How much does it cost ?

Thank you for helping me !

You need to be using the original home button from the phone in order for it to work. The fingerprint sensor is uniquely tied to each 5s. Open it up and see if the clip came loose. Try cleaning it out too, there might be some dust/dirt in the way.

Did you check that the home button flat cable is not loose?

If it is properly seated yet not working, you may want to determine the cause such as damaged/crinkled/torn or some other issue somewhere else. Or you may just want to replace it with a new known good home button flex cable. If the latter works as a home button, you'll loose Touch ID functionality.

How would repair it to retain Touch ID functionality? Link please on this issue.

@mayer, can replace flex cable to regain home button function, but cannot retain Touch ID except if replacement is done @ an Apple Store. In some cases we can repair corroded connector or partially torn flex cable. Completely torn is so difficult to repair that it's not economically feasible.
