error 2NVD/1/4 2103

I ran Apple Hardware Test on my mac and it came out with error 2nvd/1/4 2103. I suspect it has something to do with the video card. Is there a place where all those error codes are listed?

Thanks

Yes, there is a place these codes are lists, unfortunately they are Apple confidential :)

Apple Hardware Tests Codes are pretty basic, they don't tell you exactly whats wrong, just gives a tech a place to start.

2NVD is for "Check Main Logic Board" we can all assume NVD stands for Nvidia. With this model, Look at that Capacitors on the board. They are most likely blow, popped, oozing, or one of many other adjectives describing their failure.

You would either need to have the caps replaced, or replace the logic board as a whole.

In my circumstance, I don't accept this answer.

My iMac G5 also gave the description 'Video RAM error detected' for this code. Computer booted from the Apple Hardware Test CD; otherwise no boot even in safe mode. In the extended Hardware test, logic board, memory, and mass storage all passed.

Same results occurred twice.

This computer was re-capped with most extensive kit about a yr ago, and power supply about 2 yrs ago. So the code probably means what it says: a video RAM problem.

Question is: can be repaired? My company uses VLSICs and have some people skilled in SMT repairs, but still would have to find the right chip.

@ Paul Reitz, sorry but it is not about you "In my circumstance, I don't accept this answer." If it worked for the OP than it is up to that person to make that decision. This question is over 4 years old, and it appears as if you are having issues with your iMac. I suggest that you ask your own question http://www.ifixit.com/Answers/Ask/iMac+G... and get your own answer.

The OP asked exactly my question, but he did not indicate the advice, 'change the caps', worked. Did he?
