Black dot on my display

Hello,

I recently bought a Sony Xperia Z5, live 4 month ago, and I discovered that there is some black dot on the screen. Its not the LCD screen or even the glass who protect the display, because I clean it with all kind of tool and the result was great like a mirror. There is just some darker spot on it, don't know where is it coming from, and it's expanding slowly. Not really important but a bit inconvenient when I want to watch movie ( or pictures ) with really dark scenes.

Hi,

If the spot is there regardless of what is showing on the screen and it is always in the exact same place (even if you rotate the screen) it may be that there are "dead" pixels in the LCD display.

If you go to Menu > Settings > About phone > Legal information in your phone you should find information regarding what is covered by the warranty on your phone and hopefully some mention of their dead pixel policy.

Given that it is only 4 months old, I suggest that you verify the warranty period is still valid by checking the date of purchase on your purchase receipt, then contacting the manufacturer's customer service section (or do what is stated in the warranty document) regarding a warranty claim for repair or replacement.

Hi, thank you for your answer, I did some test to find it was dead pixels or not and I discover that it was not. I more like if there were "brilliant" part and " mat" part on the screen : when I'm my phone is locked ( black screen ) you can see those black "mat" part under a light.

Hi, You make it sound like it seems that some pixels are getting more 'power' than others therefore some appear brighter then others. Is it more evident if you adjust the display settings? If it is always in the same area as you say it could still be a faulty LCD screen (faulty connections within the screen itself) or a faulty cable connection from the systemboard to the screen. Whatever it is if you can demonstrate that the problem is there given that the phone is still under warranty I suggest that it is the manufacturer's problem to solve not yours.

I went to see my phone operator and they confirmed my thought that this is not an LCD problem and not even a "glass problem" ( cleaning does nothing ). They also told me that this is not covered by the operator warranty because they consider this as an aesthetic issue and they also told me that Sony may not replace the part for the problem because they may not see it ( in the agency the hardly spot the my issue ).

I've send mail to Sony but they only answer was to send it to their Xperia Care service : who cost a lot if nothing will be repaired

Try changing the LCD Display.

Hi, He would void the warranty by doing this and he did say that it is 'growing' bigger? Let the manufacturer repair/replace it. That's what warranties are for.
