2010 iMac fan replacement

I took my imac to geek squad and they ran a diagnostics test which says that the "fan is failing". I asked them which one but they say it doesn't say. I checked online and found out it has two fans.

A couple of years ago I installed an app that accelerates and also slows the fan down if you want to. I accelerated the fan speed thinking this was a good a idea to do during the hot summer. I believe this is what has damaged the fan. The problem is I don't know which fan is damaged. Can someone give me an idea. I was thinking of replacing both fans but one of the fans looks easy to change but the smaller one not so much.

Can someone give me some advice.

Next question, has the hard drive been changed? Then, have you disabled your third party software that controls the fans?

No it's never been opened inside for any repairs since I bought it I treat it very well. It's the first time I have a problem with it.

The hard drive has never been changed.

What I did do which might have damaged the fan was that I installed an app to make the fan go faster. I suspect that might have damaged the fan. But which fan is damaged is the problem.

I know the hard drive question seemed like a non sequitur but it's not. Open it, blow out the fans you can get to with canned air, Do it outside. Blow up the vent passages. The cleanest houses have the dirtiest computers because vacuum cleaners keep dust suspended in the air and you computer just sucks it up. Check the heat sensor on the hard drive to see if it has fallen off. Turn the machine on to try to determine which fan is not operating. Fan failure seldom occurs.

Thank you so much Mr Mayer, my son in law is coming in a few days and I'll give him this information. He knows a lot about computers and fixes minor software problems for me but he lives hours away. This information is great and I know he will understand your suggestions. Thank you for you time.
