Hi,

No wonder you are getting conflicting advice. This is from the Acer User Guide for your model.

System memory:

''Up to 1 GB of DDR2 533/667 MHz memory(PC2-4200/PC2-5300), upgradeable to 2 GB using two soDIMM modules (dual-channel support) (for selected models)

Up to 2 GB of DDR2 533/667 MHz memory(PC2-4200/PC2-5300), upgradeable to 4 GB using two soDIMM modules (dual-channel support) (for selected models)''

As you can see, it is not very clear.

The User Guide is the same guide for both the Acer Travelmate 5720 and the 5320.

Using 'Google' to review the specifications for both the laptops, the result is always the same, 2GB (2x1GB) maximum for the 5320 and 4GB (2x2GB) maximum for the 5720.

Given that it is still not 100% clear as to what can be done, (the reviewers may be just quoting their interpretation of the specifications), if you have access to a 2GB PC2-4200 or PC2-5300 soDIMM memory module, you may wish to try it in one memory slot, (remove the other module so that there is only the 2GB module installed- observe all precautions when removing/replacing memory modules). As it says maximum 1GB per slot for selected modelsbut not which ones, if it works then you know that you should be able to upgrade, (check that BIOS or Windows say that there is 2GB installed)

Hopefully this is of some help.
