No more updates after third party screen install...

I have a customer who has complained of not being able to update his iPhone 5s after having the screen replaced with a third party product... Has anyone else run across this?

I tell all my customers to factory restore their Apple products after being repaired. Very few of them actually do, and and when they don't they come back mad because of course, it's my fault... So I'm also wondering if the lack of updates is a symptom of that (not resetting) as well?

Have they been getting any error codes? There's likely documented cases on this (or will be) and it helps to have the specific error code in mind. If it's just failing that's one thing, but if it's failing and not usable after failure that's an entirely different issue.

Error 53 is a known-issue but that applies to iPhone 6 and up that I know of.

This could also just be related to them and their hardware, you should try updating on their behalf in your shop and see if you can get it, or notice any special quirks.
