Replaced dc board, now Mac won't power on.

My MacBook Pro 15, mid 2009 has had issues connecting to a power source and charging the battery for several months.

The mag safe adapter would not always light up when connected to the dc in port, sometimes the light would be green when it should have been orange (charging) and sometimes the system would indicate the battery was charging when it was actually draining while plugged in.

I first replaced the power supply, but that didn't seem to make any difference. The battery had somewhere around 1200 cycles on it (I know, that's crazy) and probably held a charge for about 20 minutes but the system insisted it was healthy. I replaced it anyway, and that did seem to make a big difference (for obvious reasons of course), however I still saw some issues with the charger.

Aside from having to occasionally wiggle the cord to make a connection while charging, there was sometimes a buzzing noise and the mag safe adapter would be hot to the touch.

Before I went ahead and replaced the dc in port I brought the computer in to the Genius Bar. They were certain it was just the charger and replaced it again.

So I replaced the dc board, and now it will not start at all. I went through the process twice and same result. I put the old port back and now at least the mag safe cord has a green light, but it still won't power on. Am I missing something? What else can I do?

Are you using a Apple original power adapter ?

Yes. It was recently replaced and is the correct 85W version.

So I disconnected the battery and left the computer open on the kitchen counter for about a week. Once I brought myself to jump in again, I started by reseating the RAM (as a bit of a straw grasp) and put all the connections and the case back together yet again. That did the trick, for whatever reason.

The initial charging issues are still there, of course, because I put the old wonky DC board back. I'll return the defective one I received and tackle that replacement another day.

If the old board works and the new one does not, it's obvious to me that the new board is defective.

Well, right. But even after putting the old board back in, I still can't get the computer to start up. The only sign of life--with the old board--is a green light on the magsafe connector, which I only get by wiggling it a little.

Did you make sure you reconnected the keyboard flex all the way in?

Yes. Thanks for the suggestion. I was hoping the answer was something simple like this. I tried a couple times, to make sure the flex was in as far as possible. The wires aren't completely covered by the connector, but I think what I have looks close to Step 18 in the DC board replacement guide. I'm pretty sure I can't get it in any further.
