Cannot restore phone after several attempts and trip to Apple Store

I've tried to retore my iPhone 6 64gb through several attempts on itunes. I believe the error I was getting was 4013. Went to the apple store and they couldn't restore it either. As it's 60 days outside of warranty they wont replace it. They said it may be a hardware issue. I've tried calling local repair shops but all they typically do is screen repairs.

I don't mind tinkering with it myself if I have to but I don't know where to start.

Can anyone help?

iPhone Error 4013 - this error can occur when you're trying to restore your iPhone 6. This happens when the connection between is interrupted during the restore process.

Close iTunes, open it again and restore or update your iPhone one more time.

If the previous step didn't fix the problem, disconnect your iPhone from your computer and reboot the machine.

If the error still occurs, make sure the drivers in your computer (Windows) are updated or properly installed. If you are an OS X user, make sure the system is updated.

Try a different USB cable because there's always a possibility the cable has a defect or breakage.

If possible, try to restore your device using a different computer, or download the update straight to your phone.

Try these steps to restore your iOS device:

Install the latest version of iTunes.

Restart your computer.

Check for updates to your Mac or PC. If you restart your computer for an update, check for updates again after you restart.

Try to restore your device using another USB cable.

Try to restore your device on another computer.

Force your device to restart.
