Why does my MacBook keep restarting and not boot properly?

So I recently changed the hard drive cable and mac was working fine. Recently the computer froze and restarted. I proceeded to enter my password. The computer started to load then quickly presented a kernal panic message and restarted immediately. The disk utility still works and I have scanned the disk and my computer is telling me to backup the hard drive. I want to know if I can fix this on my own or if my mac has a problem I cannot fix. Any questions please ask.

Ok, so I solved my own problem. After checking the hard drive by taking it out and plugging it in externally I found that the hard drive itself was not the problem as it booted up perfectly. Instead I checked the installation process I had done for the hard drive cable I had replaced not two days ago and found that the ZIF connecter had been unplugged from IR sensor or whatever that white piece is called. I then properly connected it and made sure it stayed. I plugged the hard drive back in the internal slot and it booted up properly. Next time I will make sure to check my internal repairs before jumping to conclusions, but I also recommend the community taking into the account of a possible botched repair before assuming more problems and costs for the repairmen. I hope you find this solution plausible.

I tape those connectors with Kapton tape. I also put pads on either side of the cable as it comes over the top to prevent the bottom from coming in contact with the cable. Your hard drive may still have been damaged, Check it again now that the connection is secure.

If you do not have a Time Machine Backup, drag and drop your user folder onto an external drive. Then do the rest if you can. Reformat the drive and reinstall a system. You can do an internet installation, hold down the option key on startup.

Half the time when a cable goes bad it will destroy the hard drive.

Ok, so before I read your post I checked the hard drive by plugging it in externally to see if it works. It does. The computer, while taking a while to set up, loaded the drive and booted properly. I am in fact typing to you from this session. It makes me think something is wrong internally instead. I'm not sure. Any ideas? I'm going to check by plugging the hard drive back in internally.
