Can someone steal my information if they steal my iPhone's logic board

I went to this repair shop to have my iphone fixed because it wasn't charging. I thought something was wrong with the charger port and the repair guy did some checking and next thing I know the battery can't power up anymore and he says the motherboard is broken too. I'm not sure if he replaced my original motherboard with a dudder but I ended up not getting any repairs done, I just wonder if he stole the original motherboard and if he can steal any data from it. Some additional info, my iphone was in the middle of restoring from an icloud backup when the charger port went bust, so it ran out of battery without completing the restoration of all the apps.

Help! Thanks ahead!

Short answer is Yes if they have the proper informations and if the board is working well.

If the restore process crashed during the installation, there is a good chance that it isn't working anymore and that you have nothing to fear.

If it's still working, you have to hope that you had a great password on the phone and that you didn't give him your Apple ID password. if you did give that information to the technician, you should change it immediately for privacy protection purpose.

From experience, restore that gets interrupted are usually lost, he would have to force a full iOS restore on the phone to get it working again, and that would delete all your personal informations from the device.

Change your password and things should be ok, chances are, he won't be able to even use the logic board.

Thanks Bruno. Just to clarify, info is stored on the logic board right? So is it correct to assume that if I'm able to get this logic board currently in my phone into another functioning iphone set, I should be able to see whether it's my original one or not? As in if it powers up into my home screen then it's my original board, if not, I should panic because the logic board was stolen... :)

*additionally, the restore from backup was actually successful in that it was able install everything back to the home page, it's just that the rest of the non-apple apps didn't finish downloading/installation.

*i entered the passcode myself but the repair guy might have seen it... nope didn't give him my apple id password, but i also changed it per your advice...

*thanks again! just trying not give in to the paranoia here as I had a lot email accounts and other apps and accounts that were stored in that phone, it's mind boggling to try to remember and change all those passwords :)

Yes informations are stored on the logic board! Logic boards are worth quite a lot of money tho, I doubt he would have changed it just for fun, I personally wouldn't do it without charging fees.

You should be fine tho, most password need to be retyped once a restore is performed. I think you will be fine :).

Most repair shops ask for your password. So they can test the phone...
