Replacing only the glass portion of the 6s plus

What if I just need to replace the glass portion of the iphone 6s plus? My LCD seems to be fine but i can't find replacement parts for the whole assembly. I can find replacement glass for the 6 plus so can I replace the glass on a 6s plus with a 6 plus glass?

Since this device is so new the parts are going to be crazy expensive. I would suggest going to apple for the screen replacement. Its $149 for the 6S Plus and it wont void any warranty on your brand new phone:

I do LCD refurbishing and the 6S plus is not a phone you want to learn on. To answer your question directly, to do the repair you will need:

A glass separator. These heat up the display to soften the glue that holds the display down and run a wire between the glass and the LCD.

A polarizer/OCA removal machine. Looks like a little guillotine with a blade that heats up. The blade cuts under the polarizer (from here on out POL) and scrapes the POL and OCA off.

Chemicals to remove the OCA. There are many out there and most of them will stink you out of your house.

A POL/OCA laminating machine. You reapply the POL and then then OCA.

A POL/OCA press. This heats up and then presses the glass, OCA and POL to form a tight bond.

An autoclave. This removes the bubbles from the screen.

A framing machine. This applies the frame that keeps your screen held onto the base of your phone.

You will also need OEM glass, POL, OCA, silver conductive epoxy, camera bracket, earpiece mesh, prox sensor bracket and a spare backlight just in case.

Success rate on the S series is pretty low. The LCD itself is only .038" thick and breaks a ton. There isn't a supportive backing like the 5 series LCDs.

Also, please don't use LOCA on your phone. It is not a good solution and I run away from any repair shops that offer LOCA without rebuilding the display.

Why is LOCA worse than OCA?

In my opinion, It would be insane to try and do glass only on the 6sPlus, and only slightly less insane to try to buy a full assembly and install it (a ~$400 part)---at least for the next 6 months.

Nobody, independent repair or DIY, will be able to come anywhere close to the Apple screen replacement price for a long time.

First of all. I'm hearing the parts aren't compatible. Second of all, you're not really thinking things through. Should you be able to get the digitizer separated from the lcd, and keep that lcd in good condition. You still haven't thought about how you're going to adhere the new digitizer to the lcd, also are you going to be able to do a good job, adhering these parts together? I understand the value of wanting to save a good buck, but I would advise you to wait a min, until parts are available

I will agree about doing a glass only replacement. Doing this requires some good technician skills and equipment. Not an easy job.

I can do, and have done several 6s and 6s plus glass only replacements using OCA... If anything they are easier than the iPhone 6 to do, because the backlight is supported by metal, making it a whole lot less flexible than the iPhone 6 LCD, which would then easily break

Is the backlight getting wrinkled in the process, because I have all the tools (screen separator machine, 5 in 1 bubble remover machine and etc. and I have done many 5,5S and 6 displays, but I have done a coule of 6S the same way and the backlight got damaged... Please advise.

Because the display is so thin, expect the backlight to get some bleedthrough from the OCA removing chemicals. I keep a stash of backlights just because they are so picky. Use less chemicals, with less force and use more time.
