Are you asking about HP Pavilion dv6000 notebook?

1. Could be memory failure. Try removing memory one by one.

2. If it's not bad memory, most likely this is known GPU failure.

You can try fixing (temporarily) the GPU problem using this trick:

re-installing LCD cable worked in my situation

My Lenovo laptop after accidental drop (very small >1.5ft drop) screen went dark

Upon careful examining I could see the post screen very very dull in certain angel. No signs of cracks /physical damage to the LCD.

first removed battery, hold power switch for 2 mins, let the laptop go thru power recycle on AC power... no luck

then I took the risk of opening the laptop. It could also be possibly graphics card or inverter issue but I got super lucky and re-seated LCD cable which solved my screen issue

my advice

1. Read manufacture repair manual

2. have a lot of patience and remove all the screws before attempting to pry open the laptop casing to avoid breaking/cracking the plastic casing

3. keep super glue handy

4. use the correct size screw driver to avoid stripping screw head

5. keep the screws safe in a small bowl or sandwich bag

6. no kids around

Fisrt check this things.

Turn on your pc,listen carefully for any bips or in the other case for blinks of the caps lock led and num lock led,if any tell me how many bips or blinks of the were(note:it may happen that the blinks most probabily in the case of ur model will be 2 flashes or one flash and one long onein anycase pay atention to them)

After this check to see or listen if ur hdd is workin so u can understant if the OS is being Started up or not,,

If by anychance u have cheked all this u have cheked or skped all this and u are sure that the OS is stardet and the pc works but u cant see a thing connect ur notebook with screen of another pc with the aposite cable and try hitin Fn+F5 to see if the screen turns on if not so from the begening of the conection.

If does not solve write me ur feedback of the operations so i can help u more

Chiming in here, after dropping any laptop, I would check that the board is still intact. I would also check that the connection between the lcd and the board is still intact, and that the case isn't broken anywhere. In every case I've had of a dropped laptop, there was either a broken case or motherboard or both.

Hi all,

I spent almost 3 days on my pavilion PC trying to recover it after a Win 10 migration.

After having removed all the connections as well as cleared the CMOS battery nothing improved. I knew my PC was not dead because removing the DDR3 it started with the buzzer noise.

The root cause is the Windows fast boot in a corrupted environment (non working Win 10) and the fact my external keyboard was slower to boot-up than the PC itself.

The corrective action was to push the Reset (jumper or short circuit on OT-RST on mother board) so that keyboard was up and running when the main board starts. They hitting F10 or DEL was taken into account and I could modify the boot options to get rid of the corrupted WIN10 install.

Hope it will help you before you thru away your MOB.

Cheers
