Why doesn't my proximity sensor work?

After screen replacement everything works fine except the proximity sensor. The proximity sensor sends out some kind of red "laser" light too...

Does someone have a solution for this? :)

Damaged the sensor during screen replacement. Replace proximity flex.

Do I need to change both the light sensor and the proximity sensor? Since they are connected...

make sure the proximity sensor is in there straight, the bracket that holds it isn't upside down, the little black piece of half moon shaped tape isn't in the way before replacing it.

Yes, if the proximity sensor is damaged the whole front camera, proximity sensor, earpiece speaker etc. will need to be replaced. they're not terribly expensive though.

Where did you get the screen your replaced, I've seen the paint on the glass cause problems with the prox too. You might can get by with scratching off the UV paint and replacing with black sharpie but I'd be sure the flex isn't the problem first.

Got it from a norwegian online store (www.teledeler.no), didn't want to risk to get something that didn't work. I wonder, where do the red light come from? Haven't seen it on any other iPhone 6's.

The red light comes from the proximity sensor, which uses infrared to detect objects in proximity. But if the proximity sensor is damaged and the front lens is broken off, it will appear red I believe. Or if you are in the right conditions, you can actually see some of the infrared spectrum.

Hi Bojornar Skaar,

Something that I have tried many times at my workshop which has fixed this issue is (as crazy as it sounds) going into settings and reseting the network settings. The reason for this is because the proximity sensor is a part of that circuitry. Another suggestion is checking for dust under the sensor because that can stop if from functioning. If you have any question feel free to ask! Best Of Luck!!!
