Should I replace my old battery?

I recently upgraded my Macbook Pro's ram from 4 gb to 8 gb and I'm going to replace the optical drive with an ssd tomorrow. The battery in my laptop is almost 4 years old and has gone through about 1100 cycles. I've never had any problems with it and no bulging in the trackpad is occurring. The battery condition is normal. I'm going to university soon and I don't want my laptop dying suddenly. Should I leave the battery or replace it? Thank you!

That is a lot of cycles. You can check its status much better with a little app called Coconut Battery. http://www.coconut-flavour.com/coconutba...

It probably wouldn't hurt to go ahead and prep your machine for school with a new quality battery. I'd also open it up blow it up with canned air, after disconnecting the battery. Remove the fan and clean the vent. Keep the old battery for a spare backup. When you get to school, log on to your college account and download the programs offered you, usually MS Office and Symantec anti-virus, sometimes some Adobe programs.

Here's how to change it: MacBook Pro 13" Unibody eind 2011 Vervanging van de batterij
