Dead iPhone after going in pool

Hi guys,

I have an iPhone 6 that went into the pool about 2 weeks ago. Put in a bag of rice and other tricks but it is still dead. Looking for ideas of what can be bad, how to test or troubleshoot different components.

Thank you for your help.

Kevin

First off, the whole rice thing is a myth, it does absolutely nothing. If you're looking for what you can do yourself, the best thing is to open the device, remove the motherboard, and use some alcohol and a brush to clean up the board and remove all the corrosion.

If you have a soldering iron or hot air station, you can remove the shields on the motherboard, and clean in those areas too. If you want to give it the best chance of working again, take it to someone that will remove the shields and run it through a professional wave frequency ultrasonic cleaner.
