Why wont my phone charge?

when ever i charge it doesnt say its charging. then when i charge it at night, the next morning it says it only charged 50% of it.Plz help (iphone 4)

I would start by cleaning other the charge port with some isopropyl and a brush(although this most likely won't solve the issue). The next step and most likely the problem is the battery. You will want to order a new one, and using a disassembly guide here on ifixit, replace the battery. If you find this still doesn't solve the issue then the next step would be to try a new dock connector flex cable. If that doesn't work, then you have some motherboard level issues, in which case I highly recommend taking it to a professional

I agree, sounds 100% like a battery or bigger motherboard issue. If it's your charging port/dock connector it usually won't recognize a connection at all when plugged in. If the battery drops in percentage rapidly, randomly shuts off, or doesn't increase in percentage when charging that's usually the culprit. Also when it comes to batteries buy original (don't go cheap). Trust me it makes the difference. I would definitely buy the battery from iFixit. Avoid Ebay/Amazon lower quality.
