Hi could someone advise on the PSU spec i.e. volts/amps and type of DC plug, Reason I ask Im from the UK and have an Echo coming from the US and need to sort out a compatable PSU with UK 3 pin Plug

Hi
I'm from UK and using an echo over here. If you haven't already got things sorted the adapter that comes with the echo is rated at 120 - 240V so a simple 2 - 3 pin adapter is all you need.

Hi, So I don't need a converter of 110v to 240v, right? I just need a 2~3 pin plug( adapter ) , right?
The supplied adapter I have will handle 240v but just check that the one you receive or have is the same. Then yeah just a simple us 2pin to uk 3 pin is all you need!

Hi Mark,
The power adapter takes 120 - 240 volts at 0.6 amps 50 or 60 Hz as an input, and delivers 15 volts at 1.4 amps as an output. If you want to buy a power adapter without plug adapter, you may be out of luck. There are third party power adapters for the Echo that I've found, but they all have US plugs. I couldn't find anything about the Echo's actual plug specification, so your best bet would be to buy an adapter that provides the right voltage and amperage and solder in the plug from the original adapter.

As this seems to be the only post that answers the question, I'd just like to add, the DC connector that goes into Echo is very thin. I think it's the 2.5mm variety but I can't be sure. You'll be better buying an adapter that covers the voltage/amapge mentioned above with changeable dc connectors.
gents, please help me. I am not clued up at all when it comes to the technicalities of currency.
I just bought 2x amazon echo dot 2's from the states. It comes with a 9w usb charger (which i no longer have)
If i use a 12w usb charger -will it do damage? or does the echo regulate the power in someway itself?
PLEASE ADVISE! :)

Heads up about Echo power supply going bad! After 1 1/2 years of enjoying the Amazon Echo, it would no longer connect to the internet; the blue ring would never turn red and then the Echo would shudder and restart the process. I assumed the motherboard went bad but I couldn't find any repair or replacement options. I then bought a new Echo and plugged it into the old power supply. Guess what? The new Echo did the same thing as the old Echo. I then tested the new and old Echo with the new power supply and they both worked! The power supply specs are 15 volts, 1.4 amps.

I assume the 15v output is DC? I'm looking to add a power supply from my bathroom toiletries cabinet, so it needs to be compact and will be hard wired in.

Hi thanks for the answer but I didn't want the to use the original supplied psu as the height when connected to a 3 pin adaptor would of been to high fo r where I wanted to site the echo hence why I wanted to purchase a stand alone psu,

I just got an Amazon Echo and I am excited. I also live in the UK and I get the sense there are some limitations. Some questions:
1. Has anybody managed to link it to a Prime Music account (I am a Prime member in US and in UK)?
2. Any hints into which services work and which ones don't?

I had the same issue - received my Echo with a US 2-pin USB plug/converter…. It all got very messy trying to plug into travel power plugs and 2-pin to UK 3-pin power adapters…
Happily I found an old Apple UK iPhone USB plug in my desk drawer, connected the USB lead and the Echo works a treat !

im no expert with plugs but i bought a u.s plug 3rd gen echo dot aswell , i bought a all in one unversal u.s aus , eu travel adaptor ive seen the same adaptors on ebay for 99p mine works just fine just make sure the 2 prongs that go in the adaptor are not upside down .
to ensure this the writting on the adapter is the same way up as the writting as the amazon u.s plug (my u.s plug sits lower than adaptor but works fine) its at your own risk of course ., or you can buy the uk lead on amazon uk for 14 pound ,. but my 99p adaptor works fine with the u.s plug like i said

1. I don't think you can link to prime
2. All the services will work ie iheart radio and Pandora but you will need to register via a proxy but after that it all works
