Canon AE-1 program. shutter not firing properly
can you please tell me why my shutter stops working when the battery voltage falls below 5volts?

The Canon AE-1 has an electro magnet shutter release. As such it requires power from the battery to charge a capacitor to offset the magnetism through a coil of the release magnet which is controlled by the exposure logic.
