Hello,

The failure of the clock is almost always due to failed capacitors. There are two capacitors on the back of the clock that, with age, stop working properly.

You can follow the cluster removal and odometer repair DIY's to guide you through taking the cluster out of the car, and removing the various items from the cluster to get at the back of the clock.

From there, at this time, you'll need to find another source for a guide on how to actually remove and replace the capacitors as there isn't one on iFixit yet. Generally speaking it's a matter of de-soldering the old capacitors so you can remove them, and soldering in the new ones. If you are unfamiliar with soldering you might need to ask for help from someone you know who is good at it, or you can consider sending your clock out for repair. There are several companies that repair instruments from these old European cars.
