must have damaged the touch-ID.

bump. Same problem here. Tried replacing the metal shield with the cable connecting touch ID to the logic board with several original flex cables, still no luck. I take it my colleague must have damaged the touch-ID. Is there any workaround?

UPDATE: I swapped the home-button for a button laying around in the shop, possibly the original one and it worked.

Anyone know if the same goes for iphone 5s where you swap home button? Got a customer with working touch ID but defective button but don't want to have to put the original back in every time she updates.

For iPhone 5s, the phone won't die if you reinstall iOS without the original home button, you'll just lose Touch ID.
