What is wrong with my device's startup?

I turn on the dsi, the regular start screen is displayed. For some reason I can't skip past by tapping the touch screen, so I press any button and it continues. After the start up screen has faded to white, it stays blank. I wait for a while, and still nothing. The dsi doesn't turn off on its own, it just stays blank until I turn it off manually. It just started doing this recently, no idea why. Please help me.
