Vertical white lines and red screen after dropping on face

My daughter dropped her 5c on a concrete surface, landed directly on face. There is no visible damage to phone. When she clicked home button, vertical white lines and a colored one appeared and the screen is mostly red. Unfortunately she had it in lock mode and the screen is now unresponsive to swipe. The phone is still functional and receiving calls, texts, and alerts. Someone suggested it may be the LCD is damaged. I'm not techy, but trying to see if this can be fixed as she's been unable to download pics to cloud...not enough storage. We've fixed that now and were hoping the automatic backup would happen as it appears she's connected to wifi. Any guidance or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Hi Marci,

There is nothing you can do except replace the display assembly for now. When the iPhone fell, the display got damaged so badly that it doesn't respond to touch and does not show an image anymore. This indicates that the display is completely useless and should be changed. If further damage did occur, you will be able to tell only after changing the screen.

If you are going to attempt the repair yourself, use this kit to replace the screen assembly as per the steps found in this guide.

If you don't feel up to it, have it replaced at an Apple Store or a good repair shop/technician.

It is a pretty simple and straightforward repair and there is a high probability it'll be all you'll need to do to have it back in working condition.

Good luck!

so I've had a similar issue and replaced the screen. The touch function still does not work. What can I do to diagnose any further damage or issues?

If the screen is known good, you probably have a failure on the mother board of the iPhone. It is not uncommon with 5C to suffer from this failure because their housing is flexible and allows the mother board to flex if the housing itself is bent/dropped.
