Why is my samsung galaxy 12.2 inch keep blinking?

Every time my samsung galaxy pro 12.2 is on low battery it will start blinking a lot it will also do it randomly. It also won't keep a charge if it's on 100 percent it will jump to 20 percent really fast. It is also new so I don't know what the problem could be?

Yeah my Samsung Galaxy tab 4 starts flickering so much that you can't even see the screen and it turns black and white but sometimes the flickering is not so bad that you can see the screen

door

Open the back of of your tab4 unplug the battery and press the power button then plug the battery back in and close it up restart it and problem solved . I found out its a charging issue it messes wuth the battery but this procedure fixes it . Hope it helps Cheers

door

Hope this works - I will try as soon as my problem get so bad I have too do the surgery on my tablet.

door

Did it work?

door

Last night after months of not doing the flickering it started back up so after an hour of it acting up i decided to do the battery trick were i pull of the back cover and rest the battery by simply unpluging it and pressing the power button and then reattaching the battery and it fixed it again no more flickering.

I guess something happends were the battery gets messed up in the charging cycles cause when i was about turn it off to do the procedure the battery was at 27% when i re-plug it in and restarted 42% so something is up with the battery charging system in android or on the battery itself ,good thing is i now know what fixes it for sure i hope this helps someone else.

It's a software bug. To fix it you will need to unplug the battery, press the power button for 10 seconds to discharge any capacitors, plug the battery back in, charge it (factory charger preferred) to 100%, then turn it on and enjoy.

If this doesn't fix it then you may need to replace the battery.

Watch this video for how to get the cover off the back of the Galaxy Pro and Note 12.2.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VeSG0hHp...

This video shows you how to replace the battery. You just need to unplug it. Be careful with the connector while unplugging it when the battery stays screwed in.

We followed this procedure this afternoon. Went without a hitch until we powered back on. Cant sign in to google play or any of his apps except facebook, spotify, gmail. Thats it. Not even messenger. Any ideas?

door

I would try a factory reset

Follow the instructions and the tablet is good so far. No more blinking or over heat. However, I pressed the power button twice and used old normal charger and cables. Thanks James.

I bought a new battery, installed it, then did this and it did not work. little bastard still randomly blinks. makes it impossible to stream video as it is always interrupted thus stalling video. was a great device for 2 years, then this happened and now it's a virtual brick.

Not sure if you have already found a fix but i bought one of these tab pros 12.2 and it had this issue figure out it was a battery issue so i ordered one but by luck it was defective so i had to re install my original battery and now that i did it fixed itself so i did a little research and found out the problem come from using the original charger it does not give the battery a balanced charge so it meeses it up and you get this flicker.

Ok to fix it simply take the cover of the back (google it) and just un-plug the battery then press on the power button to release any power from the tablet and then reconnect the battery and just like that its fixed now charge your tablet with a regular mini usb not the 3.0 one that comes with it i have done this and its been over 10 days and the issue has not happend again. Good luck

Its Oct 1 and im still running perfect no blinking no powering off so id say its a charging issue and now its fixed hope it helps those of you that need it.

door

Can you recommend a charger? I'm not sure what to look for. Thank you

door

Just a regular mini usb the thicker the better

door

Thank you! I brought the pure Samsung wall charger back and plugged into the wall. It started charging like it should and no more weird blinking anymore! Thank you so much for sharing!!!

Prior to that, I tried taking the back cover off and removing battery, etc, none of them worked. I was upset when removing the battery didn't fix the problem cuz it was a lot of work, and I thought I had to buy another expensive tablet! It still is a mystery that the tablet doesn't like the other chargers anymore. Never had this problem for the last 2 year.

door

i plugged in to charge overnight as usual, would not turn on or indicate charge next day. charge symbol barely flickered a few times when plug usb in. tried the disconnect battery & hold down power button for 10 sec. reconnect battery & now is charging. THANX :) already at 3% from 0 just typing this out.

Download an app called. Cleaner or any app that has the ability to tell you if it is hot or not. If your tab is running hot, it will blink. why because I am dealing with that issue right now and I will record it and get it fix right away. After 56C to 76C it will start blinking like that.

The Probelm is the Battery. Need to replaced the Battery becuase the amperage rating is now below what it needs to function and will start blinking. When I took it for the warranty they removed and replaced the battery. they blamed it on the charger. I don't think that will be the problem but the battery itself.

This is a hardware fault. Do not open up your tablet as this will invalidate your warranty. Send it back to be repaired (I've sent mine three times so far, still screwed up)(John Lewis is stubborn and refuses to get me a new one...I'll just keep sending it back till it is fixed). Paid too much to have a faulty tablet.

I had sent back mine either 3 or 4 times and yet they refused to exchange a new one. Now waranty period is over and am lost on what to do about it. I will come back after 2 or 3 months' usage after fixed. :(

Did you manage to get this fixed now?

The post above by JG is on the right track. My 12.2 was flickering something nasty - particularly when the battery level went below 50%. I noticed that when I connected the charger to the tablet, flickering was reduced. So I thought it's a battery issue as some forums have suggested. Ordered and installed a new battery. Good as new! If returning the tablet is not an option, replacing the battery may be a good idea - but only if you got steady hands.

I will add that the battery connector is easy to break. If you try this be sure to hold down on the part that is connected to the motherboard while you are releasing the connector. If you break it you could be in for buying a new motherboard and/or battery, or both depending on you what part of that connector you break.

I was having this same problem and tried every solution I could find in every forum I could find. Nothing worked. In fact, the problem was getting worse. I bought my tablet on e-bay so I have no warranty and can't return it. Figuring I had nothing left to lose, I followed the instructions outlined by James in this thread. Totally worked. My battery is at 14% and it hasn't blinked once. The only thing is, I must have damaged something when I opened it up because now there is a section about an inch wide on the screen that doesn't respond to touch. But that feels like a way more workable problem then the constant flashing that made it pretty much unusable. So I would say take your chances and open it up, esp if you can't return it or have it repaired under warranty.

Thanks James! You saved me!

When you take the back off it is easy to loosen the connectors for the ribbon cables. take the back off, and look for the thin golden connectors inside. Just use your thumb/finger to press downward on them to make sure they are firmly connected.

Well I read everything everyone said and checking the boxes in DEVELOPER OPTIONS didn't help for me, so I removed the back and disconnected the battery, held down the power button, then put it back together. I powered on and shortly after the tablet rebooted on it's own. By the way, I was at about 70%. I remembered reading someone talking about an app that rated their battery, so I looked for that to see if my battery was bad. Many that I saw seemed to just optimize your system to extend battery life, but I found one called BATTERY LIFE that did an analysis and said there was a problem with 4 of the cells and asked if I wanted to repaid. I clicked to repaid and in a couple minutes it said it was finished and had been successful. I only mention this because since I did this the tablet seems to be behaving well. I am now at 59% and all is well. If things go bad again I'll report in.

You can also try this it works:

To fix flickering in video:

Enable developer options in settings (go to about device and tap Build Number 7+ times).

In developer options, under hardware-accelerated rendering, check "turn off hardware overlays". You can also check "force GPU rendering", but I've found the former is all that's necessary.

I had same problem unrelated to amount of charge. Replaced battery, resets, developer options nothing worked. My verizon account had been cancelled and I was using wifi. Started getting unable to connect to verizon errors about the same time I started getting screen flickering. Tried airplane mode and problem went away!

Open settings and of you haven't already, enable developer options (tab "build number" in "about tablet" 7 times). Open developer options and scroll to the "hardware-accelerated rendering" section. Here, make sure "force gpu rendering" and "turn off hardware overlays" are both checked (they aren't by default). Anyways I hope this helps.

I have a Galaxy Tab S 10.5

It started the blinking soon after it went out of warranty. I only recently found this thread with suggestions for fixing. I've tried:

Disconnecting battery and hitting start button

Developer options "turn off hardware overlays" and "force gpu rendering"

Battery Life repair app

None of these made a difference. Any further suggestions? Should I try a new battery?

Id say new battery i have 2 of these Tab S and neiter has developed this issue only the tab 12.0 has and i fix it by unplugging the battery and hitting the power button the tab S have not given either one of my kids any issues and they use them like 10 hours a day.

After a few months my Tab Pro started blinking again. I did the Battery Life app and this time it said there were no errors. So I took the back off and disconnected the battery again and now once again everything is fine. I don't know that this helps you, but that really seems to be the fix for me.

door

After blinking something nasty I replaced my battery several months ago. No issues since then. Before opening the back, suggest you watch a battery replacement video on You Tube to see if you feel comfortable doing this. If not, ask a techie friend or take/send to a shop. Probably be worth the cost to get your big tablet in working order. Battery replacement is not for the faint of heart plus you need the tools and prep well (I took a Valium and bit on a bullet the whole time - just kidding). Good luck!

i installed a new battery and it still randomly flickers. ive tried everything and nothing works.

You have to many apps running and your unit is overheating

Simply load avg antivirus for tablets for free

It will monitor your battery life and apps and close all your tasks that your not using to keep unit running cool. This tablet was expensive and im glad to have it in good working order again

The app works good on cell phones to

Had this problem also for 6 months. But it would never flicker while it was being charged. I tried everything from doing a factory restore to calling samsung tech support. I ran across this one forum that had info on this app (called "battery life") that told you about your battery turned out 2 cells of my battery were no longer working. So u purchased a brand new battery from www.newpower99.Com it's now has been 2 days and has not flickered once. Which is amazing because it's so bad I didn't even want to use the tablet anymore. The charging process now takes much longer then my factory battery. And when it isn't being charged I can now get to 1% before it will shut itself down, which before it wouldn't go below 25%before shutting off. Installing the new battery was so easy, but newpower 99 supplied a how to video so you knew what you were doing! Hope this helps someone out. Because I know how frustrating It was for me and months of finding anything that would work

Followed the process of removing the back-cover (invest in 10 -20 bucks for getting a set of the tools you see in the youtube video), just remember the guy in the video has very steady hands, so be careful when lifting the battery out and unplugging the battery from the terminal.

It worked for me.

But i had to do the process 2-3 times since i was not careful about inserting the ribbon on the bus correctly, this gave an error from a screen black bar and the power cable not charging the tablet. Resolved it by doing it correctly. The people make it sound easy and also the guy in the video, but just remember to be careful since if you apply too much force, you can damage the leads or over torque the tiny screws etc...

Out of the various solutions, this solution works best and now *knock on wood* the flicker issue is not there.
