Phone Gets Weak Network Signal, Makes No Calls

Got a 3G 8GB which finds its network just fine but will not call or text, even emergency calls. I have reseated all the connections inside but no change. There was some damage to the SIM tray removal arm and a slight crease in the metal sleeve over the SIM card on the logic board.

I have restored a number of times but still cannot make any calls at all.

Strangely the network top left has two spaces in the name whereas my 16GB 3G on the same network, restored from the very same ipsw has no spaces in the network name.

Any ideas?

a faulty sim card reader could led to a improper recognition in the mobile network! but that depends on the damage.

the spaces in the network name are a software thing - the phone is programmed to show the text when it's logged into the mobile network, like 262 04 stands for germany (262) and o2 (04)) - depending on the firmware in your phone - or better, the people who programmed it - the firmware would show a o2-de when it's logged into the net from 262 04
