Replaced battery, now phone won't work?

Replaced battery last night for iphone 5. battery had about 42% charge on it, it worked great, battery died so i put on charger, battery won't charge at all. I've read other forums about dude batteries from amazaon, which is where i bought it. Reviews for the seller were great thats why i chose that buyer. I'm just wondering if you think the phone is done now??? Or should I try an order a new battery? if the answer is buy a new battery where would you buy one from? I've also seen some remarks where it says put electrical tape over the connector. Would you try that and if so exactly where and how big a piece of electrical tape. Thanks a bunch.
