Why Hold is stuck on and the click wheel isn't working?

My click wheel wasn't working. I turned the Hold on and off. Now the Hold lock icon is showing locked on the screen. I determined that I couldn't reset it or anything else, leading me to believe Hold is stuck on even though the switch will move back and forth.

This has occurred after leaving the iPod in the Bose speaker system for a couple months where it did work until I messed with the Hold.

Do you think I need a new logic board?

Since I can't turn the thing off, the battery will undoubtedly drain. Should I set it back in the Bose to stay charged, or should I let it drain?
