benjie, the grey means that the backlight works, but you are not getting a signal to the complete screen. Attach an external monitor and see if that displays correctly. If it does, you are having issues with either he LVDS connector, the cable or the LCD itself. If it does not work, the GPU on your logic board is/has failed.
