I've managed to drop and smash my iPhone 6 Plus screen already, looks like Apple are charging $109 for replacements, how long would it take for 3rd parties to start selling the screens so I could do it myself?

Have you tried going to an Apple Store (not a carrier store)? They may fix it for free under warranty.

$109 sounds very reasonable and I do not think that the first aftermarket displays will be much less.

Meanwhile I received it and took it to my "Cell Phone Genius". They replaced already many screens of my previous iPhones 3G / 4S / 5 / 5S and always did a great job. This time they were scared and refused to do the job as they said that they don't have tools and experience for the iPhone 6 / 6 Plus. They didn't want me to loose the warranty. I forced them and promised that it's all only on my risk. After 24 hours they called me, apologized 1000 times and asked me to pick the phone up. They didn't manage to replace the screen and damaged the home button too. I don't blame them at all.
I took my 6 Plus to the Apple store and got it fixed for $139 plus tax although the phone obviously was opened before. Well - at least I gave it a try and know for the next time. :)

I would go with the $109. I work at a repair shop and we looked up the prices for iPhone 6 Plus screens last week and some were well over $300.00

I purchased a new screen for my 6 Plus on eBay Germany. It should be delivered by next Friday, 11.07.

How is the product that you ordered? Is it a real screen,was someone able to change out the broken one?
this would be the glass only....its laminated to the digitizer...apple replace the glass already laminated to the digitizer for less than you can possibly buy the replacement part elsewhere. $109 iphone 6 and $129 iphone 6 Plus

Apple it's cheaper to let them fix it.
When will iPhone 6+ screen be available in the Philippines? I went to an Apple service center and I was advised to just exchange the unit for a new one which is almost 75% of the price of a new one.

I took it to the Apple store and they didn't have screens either so they replaced the whole phone for £99, not too bad.

I have insurance, it's a 6C and my replacement cost is $200! I'd pay $99 to get mine fixed. No Apple store here...but we have an At&T store would that work..even though I use Verizon?? Hard to see screen! Makes me mad every time I look at it. They are pretty fragile. I'll be putting my big case back on it even if I hate the big case at least it's protected.

the horizontal strength of the 6 plus to its dimension/weight is disproportionate so that a fall from table top onto a hard surface that impacts the side or corner is always sufficient to shatter the screen. The 6 is smaller and lighter and will break but not as easily.
Lifeproof cases are great and do the job.....any case for the 6 plus needs sufficient buffering at the corners to spread impact to prevent shattering.
Apple have cornered the market with lcd replacement as to just replace the glass is almost impossible and the lcd unit comes with the digitizer intact which adds to the cost. I don't believe aftermarkets when they come will be able to beat the current apple replacement cost and quality.
