issues with screen near home button

I had my ipad mini's digitizer replaced recently. Everything works as it should except for a small area of glass about an inch above the home button. If I bring up the keyboard in that area it will type multiple letters, and acts randomly, but only in this small area. Wondering if it is a bad digitizer, or maybe something small that can be fixed?

mine kinda does the same thing. I can use everything on the screen except for anything that is on the bottom of the screen. which means I cant call,or text anyone, or check my emails. only if it shows up at the top as a notification. this is very annoying someone please help! I've tried turning the phone off to reset it, I tried to go to my settings to reset network settings but its at the bottom! Its really weird because I can touch the dots (to change the screens)and they work but rite bellow it nothing works! tldelgado34

Digitizer not taped is a possibility, but I'm going to go with First choice: crease in the flex as a stronger possibility given that it is a specific area. Second choice--microcrack in the screen. Third choice--digitizer not taped.

Definitely open it up and tell us what you find. Yes, you will probably crack the digitizer in the process, but my guess is that this digitizer is done anyway due to the bent flex.

Hi, I have a similar issue where the screen is acting crazy, random clicking all over the place and unresponsive in some areas. What do you mean with "digitizer not taped" ?? Do you mean on top above the home button? Do you have any pictures to show this?

Just another question since you mention crease in the flex cable. Does this mean the cable is broken or just needs to be straightened? I am just waiting to open the iPad again (what a pain) and want to be prepared!

I removed the digitizer and even if I fold it back, the screen keeps jumping all around like random touch. So it should not be the digitizer is not taped. How do I check it the flex is creased?

I can say with about 98% certainty that the new digitizer was not taped correctly at the bottom near the home button. If the tech did not get the whole bottom edge of the digitizer insulated it will act randomly. It is funny that it only happens in the small area but my money is on that area not being insulated.

Is it safe to try lifting the digitizer back off to check? I am wary that it may crack the screen..Is it even feasible?

If you are not accustomed to doing this type of thing I would take it back to who did it or another professional tech.
